Tips on Where to Live and When to Start Looking
When should you start looking for a place to live?
If you are planning on starting in the Fall, you should secure your housing by August if possible for the best selection. Apartments and homes are limited after August. The earlier you can locate and secure a location, the better. If you are starting school in Winter or Spring term, housing is available but you will need to submit an application for a location as soon as you decide on where you want to live. Good housing locations fill up fast, but new properties come open all the time. If you are starting school Summer term, there is ample housing opportunities. |
Where should you live?
Where you should live depends on what you are looking for. Housing close to campus allows you to walk to school and avoid parking, but can by nosier and sometimes more expensive. Housing further from campus is not as convenient in regards to proximity to campus, but often provides a quieter community, and more cost effective. Before picking a location, ask questions, check out the area during the day, night, and on weekends to compare the atmosphere you would be living in. There aren't any "bad" areas of town in regards to higher crime or dangerous living conditions, but the social atmosphere does differ depending on where you choose to live. |
